Family Table

The mission of Jewish Family & Children’s Services (JFCS) Family Table is to end hunger in the Greater Boston Jewish community while serving people who need assistance regardless of religious affiliation. Family Table fulfills its mission by providing kosher food, creating a caring Jewish connection, and empowering people to make healthy eating a part of their daily lives.

At Temple Emunah we continue to provide small boxes of BOTH whole wheat crackers and brown rice to Family Table on a monthly basis. The food should be placed in the specially marked bins at the entrance to the temple. In addition, we often purchase additional items through the Amazon Wish List on the Jewish Family & Children’s website when specific items are needed for clients.  We have Michelle Abramson to thank for taking the lead in working with Lisa Katz at JFCS to secure items requested.  Consequently, it is most helpful for congregants to give generously by not only donating food items but also by making cash/check donations through the temple’s website under Family Table fund.  We encourage congregants, during times of a simcha and sponsorship of an oneg, to request that guests send contributions to Family Table in honor of a Bnei Mitzah, Wedding or Anniversary.

We also encourage congregants to volunteer their time to pack and deliver food throughout the year on the designated Sundays posted on JFCS’s website. It is an excellent opportunity to give back to our community. Please contact Lisa Katz at JFCS directly at 781-693-5593 for further information.

Due to our congregation’s ongoing generosity in donating money to Temple Emunah’s Family Table fund, we have been able to help JFCS deliver a variety of foods to our neighbors throughout the communities served by JFCS. You have been outstanding in helping Temple Emunah do what we do best — help those who need help.

We strongly encourage you to continue to make donations directly to the Temple Emunah Family Table fund so that we can remain a strong support for JFCS throughout the year.  We are grateful for your contributions and know that despite the fact that this may be a personal stretch during these difficult times, whatever you can give is appreciated.
