Memorial Plaques

Purchasing a memorial plaque for display in the sanctuary is a wonderful opportunity to honor the memory of a loved one. Each a plaque contains the name and date of death in both English and Hebrew. Each year the plaque remains lit during the entire Hebrew month in which the Yahrzeit occurs.

Before you order a plaque, it is a good idea to assemble the pertinent information: English name, Hebrew name, English date of death (and time of day) and, if you have it, Hebrew date of death. Please let us know if you need help with the Hebrew name, which is in the form of (name) son/daughter of (father’s name) and (mother’s name). The order is confirmed with a $500 contribution to the Temple’s Building Fund.

It is also common for members ordering plaques to reserve adjacent spaces at the same time by making an additional $500 contribution for each space reserved.

Each year newly installed plaques are dedicated during the Yizkor service on Shemini Atzeret and on the second day of Shavuot. To meet production requirements, all orders need to be complete by approximately six weeks prior to those dates.

If you have any questions, please call or email Hannah Arwe in the Temple office.
