1619 Project Discussion Group July 2025

When

July 22, 2025
8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

This program is designed for congregants committed to, or simply curious about, deepening their understanding of systemic oppression and racism in a supportive environment. Whether you’re new to these topics or have been engaged in this work for years, we welcome your insights, questions, and reflections.

Led by Jud Pierce, we’ll explore the narratives of United States history and racial injustice inspired by The 1619 Project. Through essays, stories, and reflections by notable scholars, journalists, and artists, the book shines a powerful light on the lasting impact of Black Americans and the structures of systemic oppression and racism that continue to influence our society.

Throughout this monthly series of six Zoom sessions, our aim is to foster thoughtful discussions that inspire personal growth, allyship, and long-lasting, community-wide change. Please email Jud Pierce in order to receive the pre-read information.

The last meeting is August 12.
