 stance\, will speak.\n\nResistance is described as a passionate refutation
  of one of society’s misunderstandings of the Holocaust\, one which hold
 s that Jews went to their deaths passively\, “as sheep to the slaughter.
 ” The film instead focuses on Jewish communities and individuals through
 out Eastern Europe who bravely rose up in resistance against the all-power
 ful Nazi war machine.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nPaula Apsell is the creator and co-dir
 ector of the documentary Resistance: They Fought Back\, which tells the he
 roic tale of Jews who fought back during the Holocaust in more than 60 arm
 ed rebellions\, including six in death camps\, and thousands of Jewish par
 tisans in forests of Europe. Apsell was also the senior executive producer
  of the PBS NOVA science series for 33 years.
