When

June 16, 2026
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Katz Meeting Room and on Zoom

Please join the Bess Ezekiel Rosh Hodesh Group & the Racial Justice Education Committee for a discussion of the documentary Rabbi on the Block.

Tamar Manasseh is a charismatic rabbi and community activist from the south side of Chicago, who wants African Americans and Jews to become closer allies. Motivated by her Jewish values and a mission of tikkun olam, Tamar organizes her community to prevent gun violence, receives rabbinical ordination, and works to bridge divides between the African American and Jewish communities.

Rabbi on the Block is usually shown exclusively at film festivals, so don’t miss your chance to view and discuss this inspiring film!

The film will be available for streaming on your own for one week (6/9/26-6/16/26) before we discuss it together. You must register in advance in order to receive the streaming link to watch the film. You can join on Zoom on the 16th if you wish to join the discussion remotely.

To register, please contact Anna Nerenberg at bernberg@comcast.net.
