his exhibit was donated to Hebrew College by Mike Gildesgame\, Temple Emun
ah member. Mike will join us on March 3 and share his family’s connectio
n to Reuven Rubin\n\nThe exhibit will showcase a lithographic series by re
nowned 20th Century Israeli artist Reuven Rubin depicting the life and tim
es of King David. Hebrew College is honored to have received this folio re
cently as a donation to our permanent art collection by Mike Gildesgame. F
rom the dramatic coronation of the young shepherd-turned-king to the end o
f his reign\, the series brings the epic story of King David to life throu
gh Rubin’s distinctive style. Rubin’s interpretation reflects the arti
st’s experiences and perspectives as a Romanian-born immigrant to pre-
’48 Palestine who lived through the birth of the modern Jewish state and
helped define the creative aesthetic of the young country’s arts scene.
\n\n“What’s so remarkable about these works is the way Rubin was able
to capture the essence of these timeless biblical narratives\,” says Deb
Feinstein\, trustee and chair of Hebrew College’s Arts Committee.\n\nRe
ad more about the exhibit in JewishBoston.com.\n\n(Pictured below: The art
ist’s personal dedication to the donor’s parents on the cover of one o

me Minister of Israel\, reviewing a print from the set with the artist and
